What Not To Do

LA Times - Goblin Rock / Scouts

Youtube Video

Hind-site is 20/20.  However Scout-leaders and Scouts are heavily trained in what it means to "leave no trace".  It is a very basic principle for the foundation of the program.

The story from the leaders sound good but for anyone who viewed the subsequent video can say that based on viewing the recorded actions do not seem to match up.

What should someone do in this situation.  The news article directly addresses it.  Tell someone.  A qualified person can make approprate choices for the area based on total knowledge not first reaction.  Secondly leave the potentially dangerous location.  It seems we that we live in a time that allows us to "forget" that we are not the first ones here.  Our environment is layered and created overtime to include each part as needed for the other parts to continue to evolve and do the purpose from which it was created to do.  Even small changes can have big results.  We are already dealing with big results.  It is important that we attempt to deal with these consequences not add more to overcome and adapt to.
